What is Chocomimi?

ChocoMimi (チョコミミ, ChokoMimi) is a shojo yonkoma or 4-panel manga written and illustrated by Konami Sonoda. It was first serialized in the Ribon Original magazine in 2003 and then in Ribon from 2004-2019. The manga revolves around best friends Choco and Mimi, a pair of fashionistas in eighth grade, and their daily lives at school and at home, focusing on friendship, family, and romance. It is known for its hilarious, heartwarming, and at times saddening stories of the main characters' friendships, all while displaying the differing fashion styles of the main characters with its distinctly cute artwork. Accordingly, ChocoMimi features a "fashion guide" at the end of each chapter, often from Choco and Mimi, but on occasion featuring other characters.

ChocoMimi has been collected into 11 volumes published by Shueisha under the imprint Ribon Mascots Comics. The first 5 volumes were also released in English by Viz Kids (VIZ Media LLC), with the first volume published in 2009. In the September 2019 issue of Ribon, the manga was put on hiatus due to Sonoda's health issues. Sonoda later died of breast cancer in August 4, 2019.

Viz has cancelled the official English publications of the first 5 volumes after Sonoda's death back in 2019.
