Channel 5 News with Andrew Callaghan
Andrew Callaghan's, Nic Mosher's and Evan Gilbert-Katz' pioneered a style of interviewing called gonzo-journalism with a series on VICE called All Gas No Breaks.
Channel 5 was created by the same core-members in a similar style to All Gas No Brakes
The channel originally featured Callaghan as he interviewed people at various events across the United States as a man-on-the-street interviewer. Callaghan's interviews are unplanned and improvised. The people Callaghan interview tend to be members of fringe-subcultures that he says represent "true Americana".
Callaghan usually dresses in an oversized beige suit and
tie, citing this inspiration from television news anchors. Callaghan appears without the suit in more “serious”
themed episodes as a way to let the viewer know that the video would not
be intentionally humorous, but rather bring attention to the topic at
hand.
