школа (School) is a raw Russian teen drama directed by Valeriya Gai Germanika that follows the daily lives of grade nine students in a typical Moscow high school. it is shot in a handheld, almost documentary style, it doesn’t gloss over anything - kids drink, fight, explore subcultures. it really captures the mood of late-2000s Russia and the unease between teens and authority.

when it aired on 'Channel One' in 2010, it sparked debates across the country: politicians and educators blasted it for its bleak and unfiltered portrayal of youth, saying it undermined traditional values and the image of authority. supporters argued it opened up necessary conversations about real problems facing teenagers at the start of the post-2000s decade. despite all that, he series remains widely loved and still has a dedicated fanbase to this day.

школа это российская подростковая драма Валерии Гай Германики, которая показывает повседневную жизнь учеников девятого класса московской школы. сериал снят почти как документалка: подростки дерутся, пьют, исследуют субкультуры и просто живут своей жизнью, отражая атмосферу России конца 2000-х и напряженность между подростками и взрослыми.
