Jim Balent‘s work has been published by several comic book companies, including Marvel, Dark Horse, and DC Comics. He has drawn some notable characters, such as Batman, Vampirella, and the sexy femme fatal, Catwoman. In the year 2000, Jim and Holly Golightly started their own comic book company, BroadSword Comics. Jim’s creation, Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose, is an ongoing story about a voluptuous young Witch who battles to keep the balance between Magick and Mankind. Jim Balent lives in Eastern Pennsylvania with his beloved Witch, Holly. 

About Holly G! 

Holly G! grew up in NYC. After spending her high school years at Anglo-American, she did a year at Bard for Film, a year at Parson’s School of Design for Storyboarding and then finally graduated from Marymount Manhattan College with a degree in Acting. Navigating careers in Education, Fashion Design and Children’s Entertainment, Holly finally followed her bliss into comic books! Holly G! has worked on many well known characters, some of which are Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Cheryl Blossom, Josie & the Pussycats, and Betty & Veronica. Currently residing in PA with her True Love, Husband Jim Balent, she is VP to his company, BroadSword Comics, as well as colourist/productionist on Jim’s Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose and creator of her own projects: School Bites, a manga about a school where Vampires learn to drink responsibly and her Graphic novel, a collection of comic strips based on experiences with their cat, Prince Pangur Ban the Fluffy. 

BroadSword Comics® was a long time dream for artist Jim Balent and in 2000 that dream became a reality. Jim, along with his wife, artist Holly Golightly, started the company and are the two creators and it’s driving force. Jim and Holly are dedicated to their vision that comic books should have high quality, an uncompromised artistic vision and loyalty to the readers. Tarot: Witch of the Black Rose® is the flagship title and is still going strong since the year 2000. Other popular titles with the readers are School Bites, 3 Little Kittens, and VampFire. BroadSword Comics® entertain a wide audience, from their mature reader series: Tarot, Witch of the Black Rose® and their all ages titles: 3 Little Kittens© and School Bites©. BroadSword Comics® has won several awards including best independent title, best comic book, and best artist. BroadSword Comics® has expanded its creativity beyond comic books into t-shirts, statues, and toys plus more. Jim and Holly’s vision for BroadSword continues to grow and they have no intention of stopping.
